A historic center
From its early beginnings as a schoolhouse, the Jeanne Dini Center has become a cornerstone of music, art, entertainment and culture in Mason Valley.
1912
Schoolhouse Opened
The building opened its doors as a community schoolhouse, seeing 130 students for the 1912-1913 school year.
1935
Schoolhouse Expanded
Renowned Nevada architect Frederic J. DeLongchamps designed a two-story ell addition at the rear of the school, expanding its capacity.
1980
Schoolhouse Closed
With the addition of schools all around Grammar School No. 9 and its aging, the building ceased operations and became additional storage.
1988
Renovation Begins
Led by the late Jeanne Dini, local citizens initiated efforts to rehabilitate the abandoned school building, aiming to transform it into a performing arts center.
1998
Grand Opening
To kick off 1998, the Jeanne Dini Cultural Center opened in January under the direction and stewardship of Yerington Theater for the Arts.
Today
Expanding Horizons
Today, the theater continues to grow, offering diverse seasons of performances, art galleries, community events and more.
